Ljutomer Hippodrome and Ljutomer Trotter Museum
On Sundays, the Hippodrome in Ljutomer invites you to a trot race, and offers an insight into the history of the trotters in the Ljutomer Trotter Museum.

Horse racing was reserved throughout the world for royal families and the aristocracy, and in Ljutomer this role was taken by the owners of farm horses, who grew faster, more athletic, and with a temperamental attitude of horses – the Ljutomer trotter. Trotter sports and horse racing have shaped the pulse of life in Prlekija in the past and even to this day, horse racing is the highlight of Sunday afternoons. Take part in the tradition of locals who go with their friends to a horse race at the hippodrome or even attend trotter training. Those who wish to get to know this noble animal even have the opportunity to ride them at the Eco Farm Vrbnjak. Get an insight into the history of trotting and its beginnings on lit panels at the Ljutomer Trotter Museum, housed within the Ljutomer Trotter Club, barns and racetracks. The performance and tradition of this sport at the museum can be experienced through numerous plaques and trophies, while children can watch a short film. The narrative of the playful foal Jona will take you through the history of trotting, trotters and their role, enhanced by a tour of the racetrack and horses.
