Route description

The start of the wine route is from the Main square, from where you will firstly paddle upwards pass the Saint John the Baptist church and towards Spodnji Kamenščak, where you’re going to be able to enjoy the magnificent view over the Pannonian plain. We will arrive at the crossroad, where you’ll see the Silva apartments and tent site. We’ll turn left and drive through Mekotnjak settlement towards Žerovinci. We’ll arrive to the main road and cross it straight over and then continue the path towards Radomerščak. Along the way, you will get a chance to visit the Ralo Museum, where they keep a lot of tools and supplies used by the locals in the past. We’ll stick to the left and continue upwards and see vineyards on both sides of the trail. We will also get a chance to visit the house of the linguist Franc Miklošič, after which the high school in Ljutomer was named. When the gravel road appears on the right, we’ll turn towards it and continue our way through peaceful nature. We turn right when coming to the road and continue until we reach Jeruzalem. There you’ll get a chance to make a short break and visit the Sad mother of God church, the Fischerauer garden and the Jeruzalem tourist information centre, as well as vinery that sells wines from local winemakers. We can relax, since the road back only includes descent among the vineyards. We’ll return to the road from where we came from and continues towards Ljutomer. We’ll drive pass the Železne Dveri, where you’ll be able to see the vineyard mansion, the building from second half of the 15. Century, which is located at the edge of the Jeruzalem settlement, and which has a wonderful view of the local vineyards. When returning, we’ll drive through forest and arrive to the main road, which we’ll cross and get to the cycling path, which goes through a new settlement called Juršovka. We will return to the main road, turn left, and pass the Žuman Pottery, where the fifth generation is continuing with their pottery craft since 1874. We’ll end our road at the Main square.

This route is ideal for a half-day trip and is suitable for all bicycle types.
