HANAMI EXPANO - Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival

Spring in Expano will once again be colored by Japanese tradition this year. The event Hanami Expano - a celebration of Japanese cherry blossoms will offer visitors a pleasant experience with blooming Japanese cherry trees and socializing while experiencing the intertwining of Japanese and Pomurje culture on Saturday, March 28, between 10 am and 3 pm.

The centerpiece of the event will be the ceremonial planting of a Japanese cherry tree, symbolizing connection, cooperation, sustainability, and friendly ties between cultures.

A varied cultural and family program awaits us. Katarina and Žiga will perform on stage, children from the Murska Sobota Kindergarten will present themselves, and visitors will also be able to stop by various creative and entertaining content or a presentation of judo as Japanese culture. There will be face painting, a play corner, and a photo spot with a Japanese touch, where you can capture the memory of a spring day by the lake.

A sushi workshop (with prior registration) will also be a special experience, and the event will also include knife sharpening, where you can take the opportunity to refresh your kitchen utensils.

The event will be complemented by a rich culinary offer that will combine Japanese and Pomurje flavors: dishes from the Japanese restaurant Miyabi, specialties from Kodila Gourmet, the Expano Lounge offer, products from Medičarstvo Gregor Celec, and ice cream from Slaščičarna Mladost. Top Slovenian winemakers will also provide accompaniment.

Hanami Expano offers an opportunity for relaxed socializing, tasting different cultures, and celebrating spring in a unique ambiance by Lake Soboš.
