The Mura Forest is considered a unique natural forest landscape along the Mura River, where in many parts man has not yet interfered with nature. It is a lowland floodplain forest, the tree species that grow in it are mainly deciduous, and many bird species nest here, which is why this area is one of the most important in Slovenia for ornithology. Part of the Mura Forest has been preserved as a primeval forest to this day. A visit to it is especially magical in spring, when the ground is covered with bluebell flowers and other harbingers of spring.
