International Museum Day 2026

International Museum Day, celebrated annually on 18 May, was launched in 1977 by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) to raise awareness of museums and their role in society. The 2026 theme, Museums Connecting a Divided World, highlights museums as spaces for dialogue, understanding and connection in times of social division. Through their work, they contribute to greater inclusion, intercultural dialogue and the strengthening of trust and community.

We will mark the celebration with an open day in both Radgona, on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The Špital Museum will be open between 12:00 and 16:00, and the Museum in the Old Armory between 14:00 and 18:00.

You are invited to discover the rich cultural heritage through exhibitions, objects and stories and experience museums as an open and accessible space of knowledge, connection and inspiration. Admission is free.
